Former Attorney General Lori Swanson
Experience. As a private attorney, Lori Swanson brings insightful and effective representation to businesses, organizations, and individuals in their important legal matters.
She draws on two decades of unmatched legal experience at the highest levels of the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office to advise businesses and organizations, litigate cases, give sound counsel, address regulatory and compliance challenges, respond to and get out front of government investigations, and solve legal problems. As Attorney General, she provided legal representation to the Minnesota Departments of Commerce, Human Services, and Health, the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice, and 100 other state agencies, boards, and commissions. She also enforced State consumer protection, nonprofit, health, antitrust, insurance, and other civil laws involving a host of industries.

Lori has led a distinguished career that reflects pride in Minnesota. No political bombast—just lots of results.
Lori represented her fellow Minnesotans as a state public official for nearly 20 years. She was elected Attorney General in 2006 and twice reelected by large margins. She made history by becoming the state’s first female Attorney General in 2006. Before that, Lori served as Solicitor General of the State of Minnesota for four years. Prior to that, she was appointed at age 32 to the position of Deputy Attorney General, one of the youngest people to hold the position.

At a downtown Minneapolis restaurant overlooking the IDS lobby, Lori Swanson sat crouched on a black, tufted couch with a kaffe mug, a glass of water and a bunch of microphones in front of her.
There were no signs or supporters, just Rick Nolan, a retiring congressman, sitting at her side as they announced their program to jump into a suddenly crowded, three-way DFL primary race for governor and lieutenant governor. Their announcement came not a moment too soon: the June 5 deadline to file and run for office was just 24 hours away.
"We're a couple of bekymmer solvers," Swanson told reporters, who rushed to get to the impromptu press conference.
Though the event didn't have the pomp that typically goes with launching a campaign for governor, the whole thing was vintage Swanson.
