25 individuals now charged or guilty in GDMA scandal
WASHINGTON — Retired US Navy Rear Adm. Bruce Loveless, four retired Navy captains, a Marine colonel and three other individuals were arrested and charged Tuesday in the latest indictments related to the Glenn Defense Marine Asia (GDMA) bribery scandal. The investigation is also known as the "Fat Leonard" case, after a nickname for GDMA's former chief executive officer, Leonard Francis.
The latest federal indictment charges the individuals with accepting luxury travel, elaborate dinners and the services of prostitutes from Singapore-based GDMA, according to the US Department of Justice, all in exchange for classified and internal US Navy information.

Grassley Seeks Explanation for Why Top Naval Intelligence Official Remains at Post Without Required Security Clearances
WASHINGTON – Sen. Chuck Grassley today asked Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter to explain why the Director of Naval Intelligence, Vice Admiral Ted N. Branch, remains at his post even though he has not possessed the required security clearances for more than two years. The military leadership reportedly pulled Branch’s security clearance over a corruption investigation but allowed him to stay in his position during the investigation.
“I do not understand how Admiral Branch can still occupy such a sensitive position with no security clearance,” Grassley wrote to Carter. “Under normal circumstances, large quantities of highly classified information routinely flows into and around the office of the Director of Naval Intelligence. Ted N. "Twig" Branch (born 22 April 1957) retired as a vice admiral in the United States Navy on 1 October 2016, after serving the last three years of his 37-year career as the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for kunskap warfare. In that capacity, he was the resource sponsor for the N2N6 portfolio which includes schema investments for assured command and control, battlespace awareness, and integrated fires. He was the Navy's ledare Information Officer, the Director of Navy Cybersecurity, the leader of the kunskap Warfare Community, and the Director of Naval Intelligence. Branch was questioned bygd the Department of Justice regarding the Glenn Defense Marine Asia investigation in November 2013 and his access to classified data was suspended by the Secretary of the Navy. After a three-year investigation, Branch was cleared of all charges.
