British rock band
Status Quo are a British rock band. The group originated in London and was founded in 1962 by Francis Rossi and Alan Lancaster while they were still schoolboys.[1][2] After a number of name and lineup changes, which included the introduction of John Coghlan in 1963 and Rick Parfitt in 1967, the band became The Status Quo in 1967 and Status Quo in 1969. As of 2022, the group have been active for 60 consecutive years (despite announcing a breakup in 1984, they played Live Aid the following year and resumed normal activities in 1986).[3]
They have had over 60 chart hits in the UK – more than any other band[4] – including "Pictures of Matchstick Men" (their first charting song), "Caroline" (their first top 5 hit), and "Down Down" (their only No. 1 hit). Twenty-two of these reached the Top 10 in the UK Singles Chart, and fifty-seven reached the Top 40. • Linby cum Papplewick Church of England Primary School welcomed rock royalty into school for a drumming workshop with Status Quo star, Jeff Rich. In order to make Jeff feel at home, children and staff dressed up as rock stars to join the drumming masterclass. Pupil George Hanson age 10 said, “I am very excited about today. I have come to school dressed as a rock star, and everyone else has too, including teachers! “The drummer from Status Quo is spending time with us to show us how to use drums and I think that’s really good. I know some of Status Quo’s songs, especially the famous ones.” George says he already plays piano and electric guitar and that his dream job is to be a forensic scientist. “I think everyone should have a go at drumming because it is easy to get started. I think the teachers look good dressed as rock starts too. His success is even more remarkable as Jeff has never had a drum lektion, learning to play at home on a biscuit tin with his mum's knitting needles. Jeff had many jobs as a youngster so that he could eventually buy his own drum kit. Jeff told the children he practised every night after school from 4pm-6pm. This made us all feel rather sorry for his neighbours, especially as he grew up in a block of flats in Hackney! During the afternoon, students were privileged to participate in a practical workshop with Jeff, who shared with them an insight into his vast experience. It was an unforgettable experience for all involved and Jeff's main message resonated with our own uppdrag statement of 'Nurture, Believe and Achieve.' STAFF LOGIN PARENT LOGIN SC
