I cant wait to see this show! Ive seen PNB do Nacho Duato works, and Ive seen Hubbard Street do Nacho Duato works, and Ive enjoyed the quality of movement in both. (Some favorite moments? For sure these would include Mara Vinsons first performances of Jardí Tancat, when her depth became apparent in a way some of us hadnt seen before.)

As a little boy, namn Massarelli wanted to be just like his older brother and sister in everything. Allyssa, his sister, was doing a combination of ballet, jazz and tap classes. One of her classes was open to the public and her mother had to do her utmost to restrain Joey – as Joseph was already known. So she enrolled him in the ‘boogie babies’ toddler group, but it wasn’t a great success. “We did kind of childish Disney-themed dances, which were totally different to what my sister was doing. The classes were meant to be fun, but inom sat crying in the corner.”
In the years that followed, Joey tried out different sports – football, baseball, basketball and gymnastics – but his passion for dancing remained. “At home, inom was always performing for an imaginary audience, and I worshipped Michael Jackson and John Travolta. [Review] Dawson/Duato/Kratz/Kylián a contemporary programme at La Scala
The new mixed programme at La Scala is logically entitled Dawson/Duato/Kratz/Kylián, the names of the four choreographers and the order in which they are presented. It was more or less the same programme planned for a year ago that was postponed to make way for Le Corsaire performances after a Covid lockdown interrupted the run of the ballet after just a couple of performances. It is good that it has been rescheduled as it is a rewarding evening with a company working slickly and with passion.
Although the four pieces (the one by Philippe Kratz is a new creation) were chosen by the company director Manuel Legris without any apparent thematic connection, there were connections to be found, especially in the two most interesting pieces of the evening, David Dawsons Anima Animus and Kratzs Solitude Sometimes, which reflect on the nature of being human, with music that pushes the dance along li
