Bianca Jagger is a prominent international human rights and climate change advocate. She is Founder and Chair of the Bianca Jagger Human Rights Foundation, Council of Europe Goodwill Ambassador and Member of the Executive Directors Leadership Council of Amnesty International USA.
For approximately 25 years, Bianca has campaigned for human rights, social and economic justice and environmental protection throughout the world. For her work in these areas, Bianca has been the recipient of many prestigious international awards, not least of which is the Right Livelihood Award, also known as the “alternative Nobel prize”. Others include the United Nations Earth Day International Award, the Amnesty International USA Media Spotlight Award for Leadership and the World Citizenship Award from The Nuclear Age Peace Foundation. She also received the World Achievement Award from Mikhail Gorbachev.

When you first came to the world’s attention in the early Seventies, the image most people had of you was of a beautiful but frivolous creature – and yet now you komma across as an intense and very serious individ. Have there always been two different sides to your character?

Born Blanca Pérez-Mora Macias on May 2, , Bianca Jagger grew up in Managua, Nicaragua. Her father was an import-export businessman, whose success allowed her mother to stay at home with her and her two siblings.
Her Parents Divorce
When Bianca was 10 years old, her parents filed for divorce. Her mother got custody of her and her siblings, but it was difficult to make ends meet as a single mother in Nicaragua during that time.

Moving to Paris
At the age of 16, Bianca earned a full scholarship and enrolled in the Paris Institute of Political Studies. She grew increasingly interested in various political movements around the world, such as Mahatma Gandhi's nonviolent protests.
Becoming Bianca
After a year of living on her own abroad (and still only just 16 years old), she legally changed her name from Blanca to Bianca.
