    12. Corporate Main Entry. When the book number cutters to a corporate name, the cutter is not adjusted when more than one work has the same corporate name main entry. The different works are distinguished by the date. If more than one work is published in the same year, the dates are distinguished by work letters B-Y.

    OTHER DISTINGUISHING PARTS OF CALL NUMBERS

    (1) VOLUME NUMBERS

    All volumes of a monographic set are to be marked with correct volume numbers, beginning with the first as v. 1. Volume designations should be translated into English (never use the vernacular).

    (2) COPIES

    For those libraries which have adopted the ORION circulation module, the unique identifier for copies is the barcode. For those libraries which are not yet using the ORION circulation module, copy 2, etc. of the same work are uniquely identified by adding cop. 2, etc. to the end of the call number. Cop. 1 is never used.

    (3) ABBREVIATIONS TO BE USED IN CALL NUMBERS (CATALOGING DEPT. PRACTICE)

    LOCAL CALL NUMBERS

    INTRODUCTION

    The purpose of this document fryst vatten to give some general guidelines on constructing call numbers using the Cataloging Department's local classification and/or cuttering practices. Use these local practices instead of LC's only for the following exceptional categories of materials:

    1. Belles lettres in the P-PZ classification for authors who have a single classification or cutter number (for others, follow the LC tables and use Cutter-Sanborn tables).
    2. California cities classed in F 869.
    3. Music scores classed in M.
    4. Literary bibliographies, which are classed with the author's belles lettres number in P.
    5. Individual artists and/or their works of art classed in N.
    6. LC classification numbers reserved or modified for local use.
    7. Serials that are continuations of others.
    8. Series, which are classed tillsammans or separately as a local decision.
    9. Standing requests from non-cataloging units.
