Based on the historical character, Elizabeth Bathory, who lived in the 16th and 17th centuries and was a Countess in the Kingdom of Hungary. Her reign included parts of modern Slovakia and Czech Republic, where a lot of this movie was shot.
Elizabeth Bathory is one of the most notorious yet enchanting figures in history. She was tried and imprisoned for allegedly torturing and murdering hundreds of virgin maidens. It was alleged that she bathed in their blood in the hope of obtaining a son and everlasting youthful beauty.

WHY IT MIGHT MAKE THE LIST: Clashing cross-genre elements and facts interposed with fiction and fantasy create an oddball portrait of an already bizarre historical figure and her horrific crimes. If not tedious, the end effect is certainly weird.
COMMENTS: Bathory is a dreamy, odd mix of historical fact, fiction, speculation, and whimsy surrounding the life of notorious sexual serial murderess, Hungarian Countess Erzsébet Báthory de Ecsed (1560 – 1614).
